Check valve # 1 stuck open because of debris. This is a double check assembly; this means it has no relief valve with debris holding it open. This failure would never be known without testing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This check valve was damaged by freezing; note the cracks. Another failure that would go undetected without inspection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is easy to see the difference between the new valve and the bad one.
