Q:  What if I don’t want my device?

For residential customers with one water meter:

A permit must be pulled in order for the assembly to be removed.  Keep in mind that if you were to change your mind and later want to re-install the backflow assembly so you could use your irrigation system the city may require you to have a separate meter just for the irrigation system which would require taping into the city water supply. This could be very expensive.  You may want to talk to your local utility and find out before removing the assembly.

For residential customers with 2 water meters:

A permit must be pulled in order for the assembly to be removed.  You can have the city remove the meter for your irrigation system or simply keep the meter in place should you decide to ever use your system again.  It is not real expensive to have this meter removed or re-installed.
